Welcome to the Section of Pediatric Radiology in the Department of Radiology, located in C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at Michigan Medicine.
Our mission is to integrate clinical care, education, research and advocacy to advance the health status of children, women, and their families and communities statewide and beyond.
Pediatric Radiology is a large, comprehensive, state-of-the-art pediatric imaging department aimed at providing the finest quality pediatric imaging services in a comfortable and friendly environment, with special attention to ergonomics and efficiency.
We offer a full range of diagnostic services for children, including radiography, fluoroscopic examinations and cross-sectional imaging (CT, MRI and Ultrasound). Other pediatric imaging services are offered through the neuroradiology, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology divisions in concert with the pediatric radiologists. Pediatric Child Life specialists play a vital role in the care of our patients, including a comprehensive “MR-I Can Do It” program, which helps to reduce the need for sedated MRI procedures.
Our board-certified pediatric radiologists and technologist staff are specially trained to help children feel relaxed and comfortable, while minimizing discomfort and accommodating any special needs. We place special emphasis on attaining the most optimal images while minimizing radiation exposure for certain exams. In addition, the section is supported by pediatric neuroradiologists and pediatric nuclear physicians.
Our faculty and fellows are engaged in various research projects as well as in teaching of residents and medical students. In addition to daily section teaching conferences focusing on interesting cases, the section of Pediatric Radiology participates in numerous interdepartmental teaching and working conferences including those with pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric urology, pediatric surgery, and pediatric hematology/oncology.
