About
The group meets about six times a year. Each gathering includes a featured topic and may include a speaker, panel, and/or discussion. Topics are selected and planned by members of the Steering Committee and cover a wide variety.
Recent Events
- Recent Book Clubs have discussed the following books: “She Wins, You Win,” “Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High”, “Becoming” by Michelle Obama and “Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present” (co-hosted with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee).
- Recent speakers have presented on the promotions process at Michigan Medicine, being a good mentor or mentee, finance and estate planning for women, and sexual harassment
- Recent group social/networking events have included breakfasts with Grand Rounds speakers, mixers to meet new members and local practice members, fitness classes, paint night, and self-defense class.
- Medical student outreach including a guided discussion about the profession of radiology co-hosted with the Michigan Radiology Pipeline Program

Ally Award
The Women in Radiology group sponsors the Ally Award. This award recognizes exemplary service in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Recipients are nominated annually by members of the Department of Radiology. All Department of Radiology faculty, house officers, and staff are eligible to be nominated as individuals or a group.
