About Me:
Hi there, I'm Melanie! I'm originally from Los Angeles, California and moved to New York City where I studied Biochemistry at NYU. After college, I took a gap year in the city where I worked as a medical assistant in a Dermatology office. I eventually made my way upstate to receive my M.D. from Albany Medical College. Outside of academics, I grew close to our Asian Pacific American student and patient population as co-leader of APAMSA as well as worked on clinical research studying chronic pain and spinal cord stimulation surgery. I am extremely interested in clinical research and patient advocacy, which I look forward to continuing in residency. Outside of medicine, I love dancing, arts and crafts, traveling, trying new food, and FaceTiming my nieces + nephew in Los Angeles!

Why I chose Michigan:
My interview at Michigan stood out at the end of the interview trail. The camaraderie between residents and faculty was truly palpable, even virtually. There was a clear emphasis on collaboration and a genuine familial feel. I look forward to growing alongside a talented cohort of residents and exploring a new city in Ann Arbor!
