Faculty Development

The Office of Faculty Development leads Departmental efforts to support faculty skill and career development in coordination with the UMMS Faculty Development Program. 

 

The objectives of the Faculty Development Office are:

  • To support faculty skill acquisition in teaching, research, and clinical practice
  • To maintain high levels of faculty satisfaction with their professional experience at the Medical School.
  • To increase faculty members’ satisfaction with their professional experience at UMMS
  • To advance the recruitment and retention of high-quality faculty members by the Medical School.

  • Assist Faculty Recruitment
  • New Faculty Onboarding
    • Mentor identification
    • Development of Individualized Development Plans (IDP)
    • Support and monitor initiatives such as Launch Committees  
  • Skill Building Workshops
    • Disseminate information on UMMS Faculty Development Programs and Events
    • Make nominations to intramural and extramural career development programs
    • Provide guidance on appropriate programs
  • Faculty Recognition
    • Make nominations to intramural and national award programs
    • Promote faculty accomplishments in research, education, and clinical care
    • Departmental Website development and social media presence with the Department of Communication
  • Assessment
    • Conduct and Analyze Annual Department Faculty Satisfaction Survey
    • Participate in Faculty Assessments in Coordination with Faculty Affairs
