Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners Group Photo

The Mott PICU Nurse Practitioner Program began in 2006. Our very own longstanding PICU bedside nurse, Janella Reske, was the founding member. The program has grown its ranks to eleven, recruiting nursing expertise from diverse acute care settings. The nurse practitioners are integrated team members, practicing shoulder-to-shoulder with physician counterparts. In addition to providing vital direct patient care to all types of PICU patients, they are also an outstanding educational resource for rotating residents and beginning fellows, and provide valuable continuity with their 7-days-a-week, 365 days-a-year presence on the unit. Nurse practitioners in the Mott PICU are also actively engaged in research, patient safety, and quality improvement activities.

Vision Statement:

The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Nurse Practitioner Program strives to provide inclusive, holistic, evidence-based care to critically ill children and their families.

Mission Statement:

The PCCM-NP Program is a group of advanced practice registered nurses with specialty certification in pediatrics within the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

    • We advocate for and practice comprehensive, compassionate, state-of-the-art care to critically ill children and their families globally.
    • We advance nursing, medicine, and science through participation and planning of both single- and multi-centered clinical trials, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
    • We participate in Professional organizations at local, regional, state and national levels.
    • We educate interdisciplinary trainees and Hospital Staff.
