Research Interests:
I have had the pleasure to take care of many kids with critical illnesses who do very well and go home. However, there are certainly kids who do not do as well. This juxtaposition has inspired my research interests. I am conducting translational research, studying inflammatory phenotypes in kids with PARDS to see if this can provide insight into organ dysfunction trajectories over the next 5 days. This project allows me to take one small step into the exciting field of critical illness sub-phenotypes and precision medicine.
Why Michigan?
Being originally from Michigan, CS Mott was a natural interest of mine. However, when I interviewed, I was struck by how friendly the people were. From the faculty to the fellows, I was warmly welcomed. Additionally, I am interested in learning how to become a physician-scientist and Michigan had an incredible amount of support to help me reach my goals.
Favorite thing about Ann Arbor:
While I may never be a Wolverine fan, completing undergrad at Michigan State and medical school at Ohio State, I do love the city of Ann Arbor. There are so many great restaurants both around Ann Arbor and in the neighboring towns. From Lebanese food in Dearborn to Polish food in Detroit, SE Michigan has a great food scene!
