Nick Waldvogel, M.D.

Resident
Class of 2027

Biography

I am originally from Minnesota, went to college and played football at University of St. Thomas in St Paul, MN, and completed medical school in Chicago. During applications, I focused on programs that I would be challenged by my clinical work while being supported by great teachers. I found the right balance at Michigan. Renowned clinicians and researchers just happen to be your attendings, and they have the bandwidth to take an interest in you. Aside from this, the Psychiatry Emergency Service is a relatively unique service here. Having experience in a well-staffed, psychiatry-specific emergency room is invaluable. In addition, the program has the breadth to accommodate any interest you have (research, advocacy, etc). All you need to do is ask, and Dr. Schultz will arrange it. And as a former finance major, I must add that the HOA (the resident union) is an excellent advocate for residents. We are compensated extremely fairly relative to our peers, especially when considering cost of living in Ann Arbor! I’m loving it here so far.
