Psychology

Our Psychology Faculty are among the nation's leaders in research, clinical care, and education. They also provide strong leadership within our own department for many programs, including, among others, the Substance Abuse, Neuropsychology, Health Services and Outcomes, Sleep and Chronophysiology Laboratory, and Youth Depression and Suicide Prevention Program. With many internationally renowned scientists, mid-career scientists with well-funded and highly respected programs of research, and early career investigators with prestigious and federally sponsored career development awards, the psychology faculty are highly regarded for their research accomplishments. They are also extremely active as contributors to a diverse set of departmental and medical school training programs. In addition to substantial teaching activities related to medical student education, general psychiatry residency training, and child and adolescent psychiatry residency training, we are proud to have one of the first five postdoctoral training programs in professional psychology to achieve national accreditation from the American Psychological Association. Our program is based on a scientist-practitioner model and provides advanced clinical and research training to postdoctoral fellows, preparing them for highly sought after academic positions and leadership roles in clinical service and education. Finally, our faculty are highly skilled in the provision of psychological services for individuals of all ages. Areas of expertise are wide ranging.

The mission of the University of Michigan Health System is to provide excellence and leadership in patient care, research, and education. Our Psychology Faculty contribute fully to this mission!
