Dr. Sayer is Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota and served on the leadership team for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) funded Center of Innovation (COIN) at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for over a decade. She has been Principal Investigator on 13 federally funded grants, including Center grants and multi-site studies on trauma and recovery. Her funded studies have examined psychiatric disability, TBI/polytrauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), post-deployment reintegration and suicide exposure. In addition to her research expertise, Dr. Sayer is a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience providing psychological services to individuals with trauma-related psychopathology. She received her BA from Cornell University with a major in Psychology and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from New York University.
