Ashta Birgy, M.D.

Resident
Class of 2027

Biography

I am a native New Yorker, but was excited to move to Ann Arbor for my undergraduate education! I loved my time at the University of Michigan, where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. I then moved to stunning Burlington, Vermont to begin medical school at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine. My professional interests within psychiatry include psychotherapy, psychotic disorders, and personality disorders. Since beginning my intern year, my choice to join Michigan Medicine for psychiatry residency has only been reinforced and I am honored to serve as an official representative for the wonderful class of 2027.

Choosing to return to Ann Arbor for residency was an easy decision to make, especially after spending an away rotation here during my MS4 year. The exemplary educational experience I received during the rotation was matched both by the professionalism and clinical acumen of the faculty, as well as the warm, supportive camaraderie of the residents. In addition, knowing firsthand Ann Arbor’s vibrant school spirit, wonderful restaurant scene, and kind community made it a tremendously appealing place to spend the next four years!
