Residency
Our mission is to train clinically well-rounded urologists who are uniquely poised and motivated to become the next generation of innovators and leaders in the field of urology.
Doximity Residency Rankings ranks University of Michigan Urology Residency Program #3 among 150 urology residency programs across the country.
The UMHS Department of Urology’s vision for future success is grounded in a record of past accomplishment. Historically, our residents have been in the top fifth to tenth percentile of their graduating class, have scored in the ninetieth percentile on the Step One of the USMLE, and have exhibited the maturity, teamwork, eagerness, and enthusiasm for life-long learning that makes for an optimal learning and teaching environment.
Faculty at the University of Michigan are recognized as some of the pre-eminent leaders in the field of urology, with several being recognized by the American Urological Association with some of the highest awards in the field. Additionally, faculty relationships with residents are bolstered by dialogue. Residents are encouraged to interact and provide feedback to faculty. In this way, our residents have the opportunity to help shape and define their own education.
