Biography

Monica Barnes is a clinical instructor in the department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan. Dr. Barnes earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Michigan, where she competed on the Cross Country and Track and Field Teams. She attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Sparrow Hospital/Michigan State University program, followed by fellowships in Interventional Spine/EMG and Sports Medicine, also at Michigan State University.  

Dr. Barnes is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and Sports Medicine. Her clinical interests include interventional spine, musculoskeletal care, sports injuries, and electrodiagnosis.
