Biography

Dr. Chiodo is the co-director for the University of Michigan Spinal Cord Injury Model System (SCIMS) and Clinical Director of U-M Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. At the national level, he has held numerous leadership roles in ABPMR, AANEM, AAP, ASIA, ACGME, and the American Board of Anesthesiology.

His research has included SCIMS-related projects: Wellness in SCI and Predictors of Health, and Quality of Life in Persons with Ventilator Assistance after SCI. He has served as a co-investigator for two clinical trials of Fampridine’s efficacy after SCI as treatments for spasticity and for restrictive lung disease. Dr. Chiodo is one of only a few physiatrists to obtain sub-specialty board certification in pain medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine and spinal cord injury medicine.
