Haley Watson, PharmD

PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Resident

Biography

Hometown: Jackson, TN

Pharmacy School: University of Tennessee

Why did you choose Michigan's residency program?

I chose Michigan because I knew I would be exposed to a variety of emergency departments and experienced preceptors throughout my year. Training at an academic medical center has allowed me to be integrated with the emergency medicine medical residents and provided me many opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching.

Research Topic: Pharmacy Productivity Metrics in an Adult and Pediatric Emergency Department

Writing Topic: Bupropion Overdose

Hobbies outside of pharmacy: Cycling, cheering on the VOLS! baking, traveling, playing with my children (aka my dog-Beau and kitty-Moody!)

Favorite Book: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe

Favorite Movie: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: Dimo's Deli and Donuts

Advice for future residents: Residency is the last time you have to learn under someone else. Take advantage of that and take those odd rotations your PGY1 year. You'll have the rest of your life to do your desired speciality. You have a hospital full of preceptors that want to see you succeed and would be happy to teach you about their passions.
