Conferences
Attending professional scientific meetings is an essential activity among professional scientists. Presenting one’s work, meeting leading figures in the field and developing professional networks are all benefits of attending research meetings. Therefore, trainees are required annually to present their research at a national or international meeting, such as the annual meetings of the Society for Neuroscience, Society for Developmental Biology, American Society for Cell Biology, Gordon Research Conferences, FASEB Research Conferences, or Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). Whereas some labs prefer discipline-specific meetings, we strongly encourage trainees to attend ARVO, because this meeting singularly exposes trainees to the breadth of basic and translational vision research. Dates of upcoming conferences:
- FASEB Science Research Conferences
- Society for Neuroscience
- The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO)
Seminars
- Vision Research Seminar Series at Kellogg
- Vision-related seminars outside Kellogg
Additional events
- Monthly Kellogg/Brehm trainee chalk talk
- Journal clubs in various departments and graduate programs
- Biweekly neurobiology group meeting in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB)
