U.S. News and World Report Ranking for Ophthalmology

The 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Rankings for ophthalmology (eye care) named U-M Kellogg Eye Center number 8 in the nation and number one in Michigan. The rankings recognize Kellogg Eye Center's reputation for providing high-quality patient care and treating the most challenging eye conditions.

After 150 years, U-M Kellogg Eye Center is still comprised of outstanding ophthalmologists and vision researchers who ensure quality care to the patients they serve. Established in 1872, our Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, serves as the teaching arm of the UM Medical School. In that role, we attract talented residents and fellows, who will go on to practice ophthalmology throughout the world.

Kellogg ophthalmologists conduct more than 180,000 patient visits each year, offering an exceptional range of services. The primary facility in Ann Arbor features a comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery clinic and eight subspecialty clinics. Kellogg also provides its patients with specialists in genetic counseling, ocular prosthetics, and ophthalmic photography.

We are honored to have not only received these exemplary rankings from U.S. News & World Report but are proud to be part of Michigan Medicine, one of the largest and most prestigious medical, research, and educational institutions in the country.

U.S. News and World Report annually evaluates hospitals for its Best Hospitals list by rating high-quality patient care, commitment to patient safety, clinical resources, family-centeredness and other measures. For 2022-23, the University of Michigan’s hospitals were among the nation’s very best hospitals, putting us on the Honor Roll, and once again the number one hospital in Michigan.

Thanks to the teamwork, innovation and excellence of our employees, this is the 30th consecutive year that Michigan Medicine has been nationally recognized for strong across-the-board performance.
