Predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees have opportunities for additional training in translational research, which is available through the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR), the home of the University of Michigan’s Clinical and Translational Science Award. First is the Translational Research Educational Certificate, designed for doctoral students in basic science programs, which provides students with an overview of the principles of translational research and prepares them to become the next generation of translational researchers. Second is the Postdoctoral Translational Scholars Program, a multidisciplinary career development award designed to prepare postdoctoral fellows trained as basic scientists for independent careers in clinical and translational research.
