Biography
Dr. Angela Verkade completed her undergraduate and medical school training at the University of Michigan. She then went on to complete ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX where she served her last year as chief resident. Dr. Verkade completed her cornea fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.
After completing her training, she practiced for 1 year at Duke Eye Center in Winston-Salem, NC before returning to join the cornea faculty at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. Dr. Verkade diagnoses and treats a wide variety of eye disorders including cataract, cornea, and ocular surface diseases.

Corneal transplantation and refractive surgery; residency and fellowship clinical and surgical training
Clinical Interests
Corneal transplantation (including full thickness and partial thickness grafts), cataract surgery, secondary intraocular lens, refractive surgery including LASIK and PRK; cross linking; pterygium excision and ocular surface reconstruction (including amniotic membrane transplantation); medical and surgical management of ocular surface tumors, dystrophies, infections, and dry eye disease.
