The Department of Learning Health Sciences (DLHS) congratulates Health Infrastructure and Learning Systems (HILS) PhD Candidate Azia Harris-Martin for receiving the Susan Lipschutz Award dedicated to the success of women in academics. Harris-Martin was notified of the monetary award and thanked the Director of HILS, Gretchen Piatt, PhD, MPH, HILS Program Manager, Beth Hill, M.A., and her dissertation committee. She said, “Receiving grants like this helps tremendously with the stressors of the financial aspect of primary data collection” and gives “the slight nudge…needed (to show) that my work matters and to keep going.”
Dr. Piatt congratulated Harris-Martin on her achievement and said the HILS Program team “is thrilled that Azia is being recognized for her exceptional scholarly achievement, sense of social responsibility, and her interest in the success of women in academia.”
The Susan Lipschutz Award is for women graduate students. It was founded to honor the memory of Dr. Susan Lipschutz, former Senior Associate Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.
