PREMAND Website Tracks "Near-Miss" Birth Events in Northern Ghana

A new website for the PREMAND (Preventing Maternal and Neonatal Death in Northern Ghana) project, which uses social autopsy techniques to identify where women and babies are suffering "near-miss" medical complications during the birth process, contains an interactive mapping portal

The PREMAND mapping portal allows users to see the frequency of mortality or sickness, including by type of illness or complication, among women and infants in Northern Ghana. The project team is led by Project Co-Director Dr. Cheryl Moyer on behalf of the University of Michigan Medical School, and Project Co-Director Dr. John Williams and Implementation Manager Raymond Aborigo on behalf of the Navrongo Health Research Centre.
