"Speaking on behalf of the Michigan Medicine ALS Center of Excellence and the Pranger ALS Clinic, I want to express our sadness upon hearing that Pat Quinn passed away yesterday. Quinn co-founded the famous 2014 National Ice Bucket Challenge, which not only raised over $200 million for ALS research nationally, but brought awareness for this deadly disease. This funding has allowed us as physicians and researchers to develop new ALS treatments, which are now being used today for our patients in clinical trials. His drive inspired his fellow ALS patients, their families, and many communities across the United States. We are so grateful for Quinn's indelible passion to improve the lives of everyone impacted by ALS. We will miss him, but never forget him."
