Exploring potential collaborations between UMHS and Peking University Health Sciences Center in the diabetes space. These potential collaborations are in the early phase through the Joint Institute for Translational and Clinical Research and the Brehm Center. The Brehm Center is interested in studying (and preventing) the impact that the projected diabetes epidemic could have on both the US and China. Ms. Markel's own research interests also focus on the learning health system and health literacy effects on clinical research engagement in minority populations.
