U-M Neuroscience Conference Held June 28-29

The 4th Annual University of Michigan Neuroscience Conference brings together faculty, staff, postdocs, and students to experience scientific presentations, poster sessions, and networking opportunities with University neuroscientists.

The conference starts Wednesday evening, June 28th at 5:00 p.m. with a scientific poster session. New this year is an art show, which highlights the creative talents of our graduate students.

Wednesday’s keynote speaker is Ravi Allada, M.D., Edward C. Stuntz Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurobiology at Northwestern University. Dr. Allada received both his B.A. and M.D. from the University of Michigan, so he’ll be speaking to a “hometown” audience.

"Dr. Allada was an easy choice to be our keynote speaker this year," said conference committee leader Christian Burgess, Ph.D. "He has deep ties to Michigan, and our community will benefit from hearing his vision for the future of neuroscience."

After dinner and the keynote address, attendees can enjoy a reception featuring music, dancing, a photo booth, and a special performance by the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) Band PIDGEN.

Day two is packed with fantastic speakers, including new U-M Professor and MNI Affiliate Dr. Catherine Kaczorowski (Neurology) and Dr. Anthony Rosenzweig, Inaugural Director of the U-M Institute for Heart and Brain Health. There will be multiple data blitzes (brief talks discussing the presenter's research), including two featuring MNI Postdocs, giving our trainees a chance to share their research with the larger U-M neuroscience community. Don’t forget to stop by the photo station, where you can have a professional headshot taken by a U-M photographer!

Rounding out the conference is one last chance to network and socialize with fellow U-M neuroscientists and fostering the new connections you’ve made at the event.
