Heineken Queen Daguplo

PIBS 1st-Year Rotating Ph.D. Student

Biography

My name is Heineken Queen Daguplo, and I graduated from Rutgers University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry—Toxicology concentration. During undergrad, I was involved in the IMSD Scholars Program, & Douglass College's Project SUPER, a program that gives opportunity for women in STEM majors to participate in research. Additionally, I conducted my senior honors thesis on the protein mTOR complex 2 under the mentorship of Dr. Estela Jacinto. For the past few years, I worked as a laboratory technician in Dr. Wei-Xing Zong’s lab at Rutgers, where I studied arginine metabolism in cancer-associated fibroblasts in the context of pancreatic cancer. I hope to apply my knowledge in cancer metabolism and the tumor microenvironment on my pursuit of further advancing current immunotherapy regimens. Outside of the lab, I read books and play instruments.
