3DI graduate students present at the 17th Annual Surgical Simulation Summit

The Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) in the Department of Learning Health Sciences (DLHS) extends congratulations to two graduate students from the 3D and Innovations (3DI) lab. Ritika Pansare and Raj Patel will be in Chicago later this week to give oral presentations on novel products at the American College of Surgeons' 17th Annual Surgical Simulation Summit.

Pansare and Patel will present on the "development of a low-cost oocyte retrieval simulator" and "development of an infant bronchial tree model for simulation-based training," respectively.

Director of 3DI, Deborah M. Rooney, Ph.D., said both Pansare and Patel are doing "amazing work" and described their intended presentations as a "great opportunity to share the research" in which the students are involved. Dr. Rooney will be a moderator at the ACS Simulation Summit for a session discussion on "Pilot Implementation of a Simulation-Based Surgical Skills Curriculum for Rwandan Medical Interns.

The ACS Simulation Summit opens on March 14th at the Swissôtel Chicago. Retired Dean of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) School of Medicine, Eric Elster, MD, FACS, will keynote the two-day event. Dr. Elster is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
