Johari Summerville

Biography

Johari Summerville is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and minored in French. She serves as a Research Assistant for the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center Health Equity Core. As a student at the University of Michigan, Johari was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Beta Eta Chapter where she served as President, and a member of the Black Undergraduate Medical Association where she served as Treasurer. Johari first became interested in improving health equity during her sophomore year of college after seeing that health disparities existed in every aspect of healthcare in the United States. Dedicated to alleviating health care and training future physicians to provide culturally competent care, Johari aims to become a doctor and is applying to medical school this year.
