The Latin American & Native American Medical Association was founded in 1985 to provide a more welcoming and supportive environment for our Native American and Latinx medical students at the University of Michigan Medical School.

LANAMA recognizes the pressing need to address the alarming health disparities of the Latinx and Native American communities, and is therefore committed to increasing awareness and promoting service in these communities among all students at the University of Michigan Medical School. In addition, we aim to increase the enrollment, graduation and future leadership of Latinx, Native American and allied medical students through an academic, social and professional network, as well as a nurturing atmosphere of la familia.
