Every September, U-M medical, dental and biomedical engineering students hold a special memorial ceremony, to thank their “first teachers.” But these teachers aren’t professors. They’re the everyday men and women who have given the ultimate gift to learning by donating their bodies so that others can learn anatomy.
The annual ceremony, which will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 in Rackham Auditorium, is organized by students and coordinated by our Anatomical Donations Program, brings together students and the families of those who donated. Students express their gratitude through readings, moving speeches, and musical performances. Learn more about donation.
