Giving it up for DUPs — Medical School honors 23 distinguished faculty
Display highlights faculty who have been honored for great contributions to the University and nation

The University of Michigan Medical School is honoring 23 faculty members who have been named Distinguished University Professors, or DUPs, with a new digital display in Medical Science Building I.
The U-M Board of Regents established the DUP program in 1947 to recognize faculty for their great contributions to the University and the nation. The honor specifically recognizes faculty for exceptional scholarly and/or creative achievements, national and international reputation, superior teaching and mentoring, and an impressive record of service.
The display, located next door to the Admissions Office near the Medical School circle drive, is changed periodically to highlight other significant awards, including an interactive display featuring active UMMS faculty who have been named to the National Academy of Medicine (formerly the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies).
