David W. Healy, M.D., has been appointed assistant dean for continuing medical education and lifelong learning. He also is director of the Michigan Medicine Office of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
In his assistant dean and CPD director roles, Healy is responsible for the institutional advancement and alignment of clinical continuing professional development and CME for Michigan Medicine physicians, regional physicians and alumni.
He earned his medical degree from Barts and the London, Queen Mary’s School of Medicine in 1996. He completed residency training at St. Mary’s Hospital (medicine), Imperial School of Anesthesia (anesthesiology), and University Hospitals Bristol (anesthesiology and intensive care).
Healy joined the U-M faculty in 2007 as a clinical lecturer in the Department of Anesthesiology. He was appointed clinical assistant professor the following year, and clinical associate professor in 2015. He currently serves as fellowship training director and associate chair for faculty affairs in the Department of Anesthesiology.
On the national level, he is a member of several professional societies and served as president of the Society for Head and Neck Anesthesia from 2011-15. His editorial positions include associate editor of the Anesthesiology Educational Toolbox and the Journal of Head and Neck Anesthesia.
