
David W. Healy, M.D.
David W. Healy, M.D., is the Medical School’s assistant dean for the Office of Continuing Medical Education and Lifelong Learning.
In this role, he is responsible for the institutional advancement and alignment of clinical continuing professional development and continuing medical education for Michigan Medicine physicians, regional physicians and alumni.
Healy earned his medical degree from Barts and the London, Queen Mary’s School of Medicine in 1996. He completed residency training at St. Mary’s Hospital (medicine), Imperial School of Anesthesia (anesthesiology), and University Hospitals Bristol (anesthesiology and intensive care).
He joined the U-M faculty in 2007 as a lecturer in the Department of Anesthesiology. He was appointed assistant professor the following year, and associate professor in 2015. He also is the fellowship training director and associate chair for faculty affairs in the Department of Anesthesiology. From 2008-14, he served as director of head and neck anesthesia and airway management for the U-M Health System.
On the national level, Healy is a member of several professional societies and served as founding president of the Society for Head and Neck Anesthesia (SHANA) from 2011-15. He currently is co-chair of the SHANA education board. His editorial positions include associate editor of the Anesthesiology Educational Toolbox and the Journal of Head and Neck Anesthesia.
