In today’s University Record, University of Michigan President Santa Ono is focusing his monthly video message to the university community on mental health, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. The featured ‘Portrait of a Wolverine’ is Dr. Kelcey Stratton, clinical assistant professor in Psychiatry and chief behavioral health strategist at University Human Resources.
Dr. Ono also highlights a unique collaboration that the Department of Psychiatry engaged in with students at the STAMPS School of Art & Design, that resulted in over 100 posters being created to raise awareness about mental health issues, fight stigma, and share resources.
To commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month, you are encouraged to wear green (the color of mental health awareness) on May 24 and send your photos to [email protected] for a photo feature at the end of the month.
You can also purchase a One Day at a Time T-Shirt. Proceeds from the sale of these T-shirts will be matched by the Joseph and Karen Krantz Family Charitable Foundation and will support the purchase of books and other mental health resources for patients and their families on both the adult and pediatric psychiatric inpatient units at Michigan Medicine.
All ways to get involved and educational events that we are hosting this month are listed here: May 2024 - Mental Health Awareness Month.
