Clinical Social Worker

Biography

Kavitha received her Master's of Social Work degree from University of Michigan's School of Social Work in 2018, specializing in interpersonal practice in mental health.

She completed her social work internship at The Women's Center of Southeastern Michigan, working with low-income women with trauma histories. She finished our 2-year Post-Graduate Social Work Fellowship here in Ambulatory Psychiatry in 2020 and spent clinical time in the Perinatal Clinic, Infant & Early Childhood Clinic, and Child & Adolescent Depression Team.

She also helped co-facilitate the Perinatal Adjustment Group, Perinatal DBT Group, and Bipolar Support Group. She is currently leading groups within the Neural Mechanisms of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - COVID Related Substudy. She also works as a therapist at Amplify Colectivo, a private practice in the area.

Kavitha is excited to be returning to the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Team and continuing to learn and grow in working with children, adolescents, and families impacted by trauma, attachment challenges, anxiety, and depression and we are thrilled to welcome her into our clinical family
