Focus areas

Dr. Whiteside's previous and ongoing projects include:

  • Development of electronic tools for the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders
  • Neuroimaging to evaluate the effectiveness of psychological treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in children and adults
  • Developing assessment procedures for anxiety
  • Developing short-term treatments for anxiety and other childhood emotional and behavioral problems

Significance to patient care

The research being conducted through the Pediatric Anxiety Disorders Clinic will provide answers about the benefits and costs of different treatments for childhood anxiety disorders and OCD.

This information will allow families and therapists to seek and deliver effective and efficient treatment, guide research developing shortened or self-directed interventions, and improve access to high-quality care.
