Biography

Hometown: Plainwell, MI

Pharmacy School: Ferris State University

PGY-1 Program: Michigan Medicine, Community Pharmacy

Why did you choose Michigan's residency program? I had a wonderful experience with my preceptors as a PGY1 and wanted to continue to learn and help patients in a familiar environment. The longitudinal nature of this program allows me to build better rapport with my patients and non-pharmacy colleagues in the clinic. The flexibility of the program has allowed me to focus on my areas of interest, while still exploring other areas, including psychiatry and palliative medicine.

Advice for future residents: Residency can be a challenging year! Build friendships, ask for help from your mentors, don't be afraid to say no to extra responsibilities, and take time for your hobbies and self-care activities. Most importantly--you worked hard to get to where you are and are doing the best you can to care for patients and reach your goals, so do not compare yourself to others!
