Alexander Nixon, PharmD

PGY-1 Health-System Pharmacy Resident

Biography

Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky

Pharmacy School: Ohio Northern University

Why did you choose Michigan's residency program? Michigan had the experiences I was looking for: preceptors that would push me, diverse rotations, and an emphasis on teaching.  But what really sold me was once I got to talk to the preceptors and learn how invested they are in teaching and mentoring residents.

Advice for future residents: Residency is not a marathon it is closer to an Iron Man (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a marathon). Do not try and sprint the swim or you will drown, find a pace stick to it and be cognizant of when you are burning out. But also like an Iron Man you have a team that supports you through it. Lean on your preceptors, mentors and of course your copresidents. We will all make it to the end.
