Ranjit Aiyagari M.D. Appointed Interim CMIO

Dr. Ranjit Aiyagari has been appointed interim Chief Medical Information Officer at the University of Michigan Health System.  

 

Dr. Aiyagari is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, Department of Pediatrics and Communicable Diseases.  He is a graduate of Harvard University in 1995 and the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine in 1999.  He did his pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco from 1999-2002, and he has been at UMHS since 2002, when he arrived to start his pediatric cardiology fellowship.  Dr. Aiyagari has been a member of the faculty since 2005 and has made significant contributions to the fields of pediatric interventional cardiology and pediatric cardiac critical care. 

With a background in systems architecture and programming, Dr. Aiyagari expanded his focus into the field of Clinical Informatics in 2011, when he was named Associate Chief Medical Information Officer representing C.S. Mott Children’s and von Voigtlander Women’s Hospitals.  As co-chair of the Enterprise Clinical Information Systems steering group and the MiChart Clinical Advisory Committee, he was instrumental in the transition from CareWeb to MiChart.  He achieved a secondary board certification in Clinical Informatics in 2015.
