About Me:
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and stuck around to study biomedical engineering at Northwestern University. While in college, when I wasn’t pouring over fluid mechanics problem sets or working in the lab, I danced on a Bollywood fusion team and spent lots of time on the Lake Michigan shore. After graduating, I worked in Chicago for a year as a medical device researcher before moving to Cleveland to start medical school. Med school further led me to explore medical innovation (and I still did a lot of dancing and show production for our charity “Doc Opera” event.) I found Med-Peds and knew I wanted the breadth of training to take care of folks with chronic, lifelong conditions. In my free time, you’ll find me reading, dancing, or being active outdoors (snowboarding, water sports, rock climbing, hiking and basically anything else ever suggested to me).
Why I chose Michigan:
Michigan’s reputation for producing stellar physicians and the proximity to my family in Chicago first attracted me to the program, but it was the people on my interview day that showed me how special it really is. Every resident I met was kind, welcoming, and passionate about their unique interests. Seeing the residents interact with one another made me want to be a part of the community that is Michigan Med-Peds, Dr. Lukela made me feel like the program truly cared about the person I was. The presence of a strong resident union was a huge plus. Also, as a lifelong midwesterner, I love the state of Michigan and the easy access to outdoor adventures - I’m a fan of all seasons!
