University of Michigan Health is designated by the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, the highest stroke certification for hospitals in the United States. Every year since 2015 our center has received an American Heart Association Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite or Elite Plus award. Our nationally recognized Vascular Neurology group consists of twelve fellowship-trained vascular neurologists who see stroke patients both in the hospital and in our outpatient Cerebrovascular Disorders Clinic. Our inpatient resources include a dedicated Stroke Unit and a Neurointensive Care Unit (NICU). Our physicians collaborate closely with our colleagues in Neurosurgery, Emergency Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Cardiology, Radiology, and Vascular Surgery to provide exceptional patient-centered care. We are a motivated and cohesive team of providers and researchers who aim to provide the highest quality care to our patients, to educate the next generation of stroke clinicians and researchers, and to advance stroke science.
