Areas of Interest

I am a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Ormond MacDougald. My work focuses on the disease Familial Partial Lipodystrophy Type 2 (FPLD2). FPLD2 is caused by mutation in the gene LMNA, which encodes for the nuclear filament proteins Lamin-A/C. Patients with FPLD2 lose their adipose tissue following puberty and experience severe metabolic complications including insulin resistance and leptin deficiency. My long-term goal is to use a combination of human studies and mouse models to better understand and treat this disease.
