Post-doctorate Research Fellow
NIH-funded Postdoctoral Fellows (Two positions available)
The Kim lab in the Kresge Hearing Research Institute (KHRI) at the University of Michigan is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral research fellows for NIH funded projects to engage in ongoing studies related to neuron-glia communication, synaptic transmission and neural circuit development in neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. autism spectrum disorder). We are particularly interested in elucidating the cellular mechanisms underlying neurons and oligodendrocytes bi-directional communication and activity-dependent myelination in the auditory nervous system or the cerebellum. We use a combination of in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology, live-cell imaging and single cell RNA sequencing. Applicants with a Ph.D. in neuroscience or neurophysiology, a demonstrated record of high-quality publications, excellent written and communication skills and ability to design and perform research in an independent manner should apply. Experience in in vivo-imaging or -recording, patch-clamp recording and live cell imaging would be most suitable for our many ongoing projects.
Required or Desired Qualifications
- Applicants with a Ph.D. in neuroscience, neurophysiology or related discipline.
- A record of high-quality publications.
- Excellent written and communication skills and ability to design and perform research in an independent manner.
- Experience in in vivo-imaging or -recording, patch-clamp recording and live cell imaging would be preferred.
