Target Audience

This course will be particularly relevant to cardiologists, internists, family physicians, and other health care providers managing patients with cardiac arrhythmia's. 

Course Objectives

Cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation, affect many patients and are a common clinical problem encountered in daily practice. However, as a result of recent advances in basic and clinical research and development of new technology, our understanding of the mechanisms of arrhythmias and management strategies rapidly evolve. The goal of this course is to present and discuss recent advances in management of cardiac arrhythmias with primary care physicians, internists and cardiologists.

Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  • learn more about recent advances in treatment options in patients with atrial fibrillation and how to select patients for appropriate therapy.
  • better understand the new guidelines for anticoagulation in patients with atrial fibrillation.
  • learn about management strategies in patients with PVCs and ventricular tachycardia.
  • identify patients appropriate for leadless implantable devices, ICD and cardiac resynchronization therapy.
  • learn more about management of sleep apnea and arrhythmias.

You are encouraged to register as soon as you are certain of attending, as we cannot guarantee educational materials for applicants who are not preregistered and prepaid by Friday, May 25, 2018. Payment must accompany registration. Checks should be made payable to the University of Michigan in U.S. currency. Payments by American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa are also accepted. The registration rate includes continental breakfast, coffee service, and electronic syllabus for participants.

Cancellation Policy

An administrative fee of $50 will be deducted from your registration payment. Refund requests must be received in writing, no later than Friday, May 25, 2018. No refunds will be made thereafter.

Course Syllabus

An electronic syllabus will be available to download during and a week after the course. The URL will be provided at the course. In addition, a printed syllabus can be purchased for an additional fee of $15. The printed syllabus must be purchased no later than Friday, May 25, 2018.
