Awards available for joint research with Chang Gung Memorial in Taiwan

Michigan Medicine and its longtime partner, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, in Taiwan, are pleased to announce a request for joint research proposals for 2023.

Awards of up $100,000 are available for projects co-designed and co-led by faculty at each institution.

Collaboration leaders are targeting projects in cancer immunology, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence—key areas of mutual interest identified by each institution.

“These areas were selected because of the complementary expertise that exists between our two institutions, as well as the potential in these fields for work that can lead to transformational science and the prospect of extramural funding,” said Professor of Surgery Kevin Chung, MD, MS, who has worked to facilitate the collaboration.

Chang Gung Memorial is Taiwan’s largest health system, comprising seven hospitals and more than 10,000 beds. About 20% of the entire Taiwanese population has sought care with Chang Gung.
