Christopher E. Stoming, M.D.

 Hello, my name is Christopher Stoming and I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As an undergraduate student I attended Valparaiso University where I studied biology and chemistry, and also met my life partner, Molly. Following graduation, I worked in Memphis, Tennessee at a faith-based clinic which serves the working uninsured. Through this experience I gained a deep appreciation for continuity, caring for the underserved, and overall wellness. I then attended the Medical College of Wisconsin for medical school, where I aimed to build on my experiences in Memphis. I was fortunate to serve on the board for the student run free clinic and helped to implement a clinic-based nutrition program called Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program. These ultimately inspired me to join the field of Family Medicine for its full-spectrum approach, unique ability to care for underserved populations, and emphasis on the patient-doctor relationship. 
    
   As a Midwesterner at heart, I was very drawn to the University of Michigan’s Family Medicine program, as it offers diverse training experiences in both community and academic settings. I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to do an away rotation at the University of Michigan hospital during my fourth year, where I was able to witness firsthand the tremendous role models within the Department of Family Medicine and their impact on the community. I am excited to explore all that Ann Arbor has to offer including its great restaurant scene, college sports, and countless biking trails. My hobbies include outdoor activities such as biking, golfing, exercising, and grilling, as well as exploring local coffee shops and spending time with family and friends.
