Biography
Hi! My name is Aleah Thompson. I was born in a suburb of Chicago and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. I attended the University of Michigan for my undergraduate studies and received a Bachelor's in Neuroscience. I quickly fell in love with the university and the city of Ann Arbor! I moved a short distance to attend medical school at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine outside of Detroit. I chose family medicine for the variety! The idea of being able to treat patients of any age with almost any condition appealed to me greatly. During my interview season, I realized quickly that I would love to train at the University of Michigan. The program is the perfect balance between academic and community medicine - with the two locations of University Hospital and the hospital in Chelsea. The program has all the perks of being affiliated with a major university - research, amazing faculty and mentors, and the ability to interact with many other residents in different specialties! At the same time, it offers the unique and challenging experience of being the only residents at Chelsea Hospital. On top of all this, the people I met from the residents to the main figures in the program were so welcoming, enthusiastic and ready to teach! I am so excited to be back at my alma mater! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, and cooking. I live with my husband and our two puppies! Together we love to go hiking, travel and spend time at Lake Michigan.
