Biography

Dr. Michele Carney is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. She joined the faculty in 2004 after completing her pediatric residency training at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She has served as Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship since 2013. Dr. Carney serves on the institutional GME Committee and the Wellness Advocate group. She is the Co-chair of the Emergency Medicine Departmental Wellness Committee. Nationally, she is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Emergency Medicine Program Director Committee. Her academic focus is in medical education, specifically curriculum development and assessment. In addition, she has developed a prototype device to increase success of neonatal lumbar punctures. She has received grants from Fast Forward Medical Innovation’s Kickstart Award and Michigan Medicine’s Fostering Innovation Grants (FIG) program.
