Areas of Interest

The Colacino Lab integrates wet lab work with epidemiological and bioinformatic approaches to understand why people get cancer. In the lab, we use three dimensional cultures of primary human tissues to test how environmental and dietary factors alter normal stem cell differentiation. By using tissues collected from well characterized individuals, we conduct gene-environment interaction studies in a dish to study the biological mechanisms behind cancer disparities.
