Biography
Dr. Rodgers completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Ohio and his residency training at U-M. He is committed to practicing and teaching the full-spectrum of family medicine, including his special clinical interests of palliative medicine, cardiovascular and outpatient procedures. He is the founding director of the U-M Palliative Care Program.
Dr. Rodgers has become a leading national expert in payment and care delivery innovation in palliative care, and has received numerous invitations to speak nationally, and to contribute technical expertise to multiple national conveners, stakeholders, and policymakers. His work has influenced important policy changes that have improved access to care by patients with serious illness and their caregivers.
Dr. Rodgers became the first faculty member of any U-M department to be named fellow in the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and has been recognized with several other national awards. He was also the first Department of Family Medicine faculty member to receive Dean’s Award for Community Service, which began in 2001.
